Consultant Profile

Grant is a licensed professional engineer. Grant obtained his Electrical Engineering degree in 1988 from Dalhousie University and has worked in Atlantic Canada since that time. Grant started his engineering career with MT&T (Bell Aliant) as a project engineer where he worked on several leading edge design/build telecommunications projects, including the first residential fiber optic system in Nova Scotia. After leaving Aliant in 1996, Grant became a part owner in a local home inspection company and a Branch Manager/Forensic Engineering for Walters Forensic Engineering.

In 1998 Grant formed Contrast Engineering Limited to offer his own inspection services and specialized project management services. From 1998 to 2000, Contrast Engineering successfully completed numerous residential and commercial design/build projects.

In 2001, Grant purchased Walter’s Forensic Engineering’s NS operations and focused his attention on developing Contrast Engineering as a recognized leader in the Forensic Engineering and Forensic Sciences sector. Over the past 16 years, Grant has successfully grown Contrast Engineering from a one man show based out of Halifax, NS into the largest Atlantic Canada based full service, multi disciplined Forensic Engineering and Forensic Sciences firm with offices in Halifax NS, Moncton NB, Charlottetown PE & St. John’s NL.

Grant has been accepted as an expert witness in the Supreme Courts of Nova Scotia and Newfoundland and has completed hundreds of accident reconstructions and fire origin & cause investigations.

Grant lives in Halifax with his wife Kim and their 4 children, Justin, Jay, Jocelyn, Jaidyn and dog Charley. In his spare time Grant enjoys spending time with family, motorcycling, renovating/restoring residential structures, developing new business ideas and tinkering with anything that needs repairing.
